Very occasionally I will get serious on these pages. Even more occasionally I will talk about real world events and things that have happened in the news. This week a horrific natural disaster struck the poverty stricken country of Nepal. Already in dire need of help, the country has already lost over two thousand people as a result of an earthquake, with many more lost and presumed dead. Even when such awful circumstances aren’t happening these countries are in need of help. Yes you could go abroad and sun yourself, read a book and drink too many cocktails. Or you could roll your sleeves up and get stuck in.
Various companies will offer you the opportunity to volunteer abroad and work on projects that really make a difference in people’s lives. You might find yourself building a well, or helping to sew fields or even contributing to building a new school building. Whatever you do, know this; these things, while seemingly just a few weeks work for you, can really make a difference in people’s lives, and maybe even change their lives forever.
