Mediterranean cruises, Thai hotels among travel deals expected in 2012

Mediterranean cruises and Thai hotels are one of many bargains that international travellers can expect in 2012, says Travelzoo, a web-based publisher of deals.

The company is predicting “the biggest glut of supply in European waters in recent history” as cruise lines reposition ships to sail along Europe’s Mediterranean coast – the results of uncertainty across North Africa.

As well, cruise lines equivalent to Royal Caribbean International, Norwegian Cruise Line and Celebrity Cruises are putting a record variety of ships in European waters in 2012 to fight for market share.

In Thailand, that’s recovering from major floods, the federal government and hotels are promoting “incredible deals” – corresponding to stays in five-star hotels for $100 an evening, including massages and meals, says Travelzoo. Canadian tourists will get pleasure from their strong dollar within the southeast Asian country, the corporate adds.

Travelzoo also foresees bargains in Costa Rica, to which several airlines are increasing capacity in 2012, and in Orlando, Fla., where the corporate expects weak demand for convention travel to continue next year.

Meanwhile, Japan is attempting to spice up tourism, devastated by the 2011 tsunami and Fukushima nuclear disaster. Travellers can search for deals in upscale Tokyo hotels which are reducing rates by as much as 50 per cent, says Travelzoo.
